Ty has produced Beanie Babies in China, Korea and Indonesia. Garcia was manufactured in two of these locations: China and Korea. To tell where your Garcia was made, check the inside hang tag or tush tag to see whether it says "Handmade in China" or "Handmade in Korea."

It is most common to find Garcias that were made in China. Most Beanie Babies have been--and are--made there.

Production in Korea lasted for a very short time. This makes Korean Garcias much more rare than Chinese. The reason Ty stopped manufacturing there was because it was much cheaper to produce out of China. Unlike the poor quality that came out of Indonesia, Korean Beanies are considered to have the highest quality; with thicker and shinier plush, better stitching and quality all together. Another contributing factor for Ty to stop production in Korea was that Europe relaxed its import laws in regards to China.
Thanks to Karen for this information.
